چکیده
The tiger shrimp Penaeus monodon is a native species of the Indo-Pacific Ocean that was introduced to promote its cultivation in several American countries, including Colombia. As result inappropriate aquaculture practices, it has established itself wild almost all Colombian Caribbean Sea. To evaluate genetic diversity, population structure, and origin founder populations, samples from three sites were analyzed 10 microsatellite loci mitochondrial DNA Control Region. Genetic diversity similar populations found be present relatively discrete populmoations their related natural Thailand, Philippines, Taiwan China. We discuss how oceanographic conditions culture systems facilitated success biological invasion processes marine ecosystems Caribbean.

The total haemocyte count (THC), differential haemocyte count (DHC), phenoloxidase activity, respiratory bursts (release of superoxide anion), superoxide dismutase activity, phagocytic activity and clearance efficiency to the pathogen Photobacterium damsela were measured when tiger shrimp Penaeus monodon (13.5+/-1.5 g) were individually injected with saline or dopamine at 10(-8), 10(-7), or 10(...
متن کاملFine structure of a septate gregarine trophozoite in the black tiger shrimp Penaeus monodon.
Gregarines are parasitic protozoa that occasionally parasitize the gut lumen of penaeid shrimp and other crustaceans. Here we describe the morphology of gregarine trophozoites found in the black tiger shrimp Penaeus monodon using light microscopy (LM) and scanning (SEM) and transmission (TEM) electron microscopy. Using LM with fresh preparations and with paraffin sectioning followed by hematoxy...
متن کاملPenaeus monodon (tiger shrimp) hemocyanin: subunit composition and thermostability.
Penaeus monodon (class Crustacea, order Decapoda) is one of the largest shrimps of the Penaeidea family from the Indo-West Pacific region. The dioxygen-transporting protein hemocyanin, isolated from the hemolymph of this invertebrate, is composed of three 75-76 kDa structural/functional subunits designated as Pm1, Pm2 and Pm3. The N-terminal sequences of the chains were determined and compared ...

The shrimp sector is the second largest export earner for Bangladesh, which is a major contributor in the national economy of Bangladesh. It also provides millions of employment. Every year a huge amount of shrimps are rejected to export due to its pathogenic bacterial contamination. A comparative study regarding prevalence and antimicrobial susceptibility of pathogenic bacteria in the black ti...
متن کاملMolecular cloning and tissue distribution of the Toll receptor in the black tiger shrimp, Penaeus monodon.
The black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) is economically important in many parts of the world, including Thailand. Shrimp immunity is similar to that of other invertebrate organisms; it consists of an innate immunity system. Toll or Toll-like receptors (TLRs) play an essential role in recognizing the cleaved form of the cytokine Spätzle, which is processed by a series of proteolytic casca...
